The old carousel has a very special effect that you won't find in modern rides: it suddenly goes dark.

At the Oktoberfest, you will find the largest traveling roller coaster, the highest traveling free-fall tower and various other record holders. And even the Oide Wiesn boasts a special giant: Peter Buchholz's Raupenbahn is the largest of its kind, with 24 carriages.

It has been making its rounds on the festival grounds since 1926 and has been in the service of the Buchholz family for over 60 years. Another particularly charming feature of the ride is the convertible roof, which can be put over the gondolas during the ride so that passengers can sit in the dark.
